RSA, the leading global Life Sciences Executive Search and Executive Interims specialist, will today present the Inspiration Award at the TOPRA Awards for Excellence in Regulatory Affairs.

The winner of the coveted accolade will be announced at the Royal College of Surgeons at Lincoln’s Inn Fields in London by RSA’s Leading Regulatory Affairs expert, Paul Foster.

The TOPRA Inspiration category, is created to recognise individuals who have made exceptional contributions to inspire innovation, action, team leadership or career development in Regulatory Affairs. Inspiration and Innovation are particularly important given the technological advances the field is now seeing, said Foster.

“2014 has seen the approval of the first ever gene therapy product and been a critical year for Regulatory Affairs. 2015 will continue to push boundaries as more advanced therapies progress through clinical development towards approval,” he explained.

“The continuing focus of the life science industry on rare diseases will also drive more innovative approaches in clinical development and an increase in adaptive clinical trials. This puts pressure on regulatory authorities to adapt and innovate. They must keep up with pace of change and continue to ensure that appropriate standards of quality, safety and efficacy are met.”

RSA has a 30 year track-record of successful senior Regulatory Affairs appointments, considered one of the most challenging fields in which to recruit. “Regulatory has become the hub of the clinical/product development process” said Foster, “and we have seen the role develop from operationally focussed to a highly strategic role. We know and understand the demands of this sector of incredibly well and bring high levels of advisory skill, candidate assessment and validation to our clients.”
