Our client:

Established in 1978, Biocon Group is an innovation led, fully integrated biopharmaceutical company that develops affordable biosimilars, generic formulations and complex Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). The company is headquartered in Bengaluru. Biocon Biologics generates $600m top line with a 35% EBITDA, and is on track to list on the National Stock Exchange of India by 2024.

The challenge:

Historically, Biocon Biologics was largely focused on R&D and Operations, but the company is now at a key inflection point, transitioning towards a predominantly direct-to-consumer model with the acquisition of the Viatris Biosimilars business. On this basis, Biocon identified the need to hire an experienced Chief Quality Officer to take responsibility for global Quality strategy development, implementation and leadership.

How our approach made a difference:

After an extensive search involving 290 target candidates and a shortlist of five interviewees, RSA successfully placed Michael Cutter, a professional with more than 30 years of Quality leadership experience in biologics and small molecules.

The search involved creating a role profile, identifying a list of target companies, candidate mapping, pre-qualification screening calls, competency-based interviewing and referencing.

RSA provided additional support to both client and candidate, including advising on the visa application process and international employment law, and assisting with salary negotiation and relocation arrangements. This greatly accelerated the recruitment process, enabling Michael to start his new role in India just four months after his final interview.
